INFORMATION FOR SPECIAL ELECTION ON JANUARY 22, 2022

RE: THE TRIBAL COURT WILL BE MONITORING THE SPECIAL ELECTION PURSUANT TO THE ELECTION ORDINANCE SECTION 1201(F)
Please read the following information carefully since the time to complete background checks will be delayed for this Special Election. Please refer to the Notice of Nomination Meeting and Special Election, dated 11/22/21, for the complete notice from the Election Board.
TO ALL POSSIBLE CANDIDATES: do not wait to be nominated if you want to be a candidate, you will have to submit your completed fingerprint card to the Election Board for the Federal background check NOW. Please do not wait for the Nomination Meeting.
TO ALL POSSIBLE CANDIDATES: you must obtain a local background check as soon as possible, because of delays you should begin NOW, do not wait for the Nomination Meeting. The Navajo Nation has advised that there will be delays in processing because of COVID 19.
The background check results must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 14, 2022. That means all candidates must begin the process for both the Federal and tribal background checks NOW.
Except for the background check documents, all other documents for candidacy must be turned in no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 14, 2022, the Friday after the Nomination Meeting. Please refer to the Notice of Nomination Meeting and Special Election for the complete list of documents and more information.
The Nomination Meeting will be held two weeks before the Election on January 8, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The Special Election will be held on January 22, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
